A Winter Wonderland

Picture taken from this upper deck, looking at the hard working person pushing
that snow blower.

This deck doesn't usually get much snow...but today's snow is a special kind of snow
it comes down sideways.

Still quilting...got this lovey one done and it has gone home.

It was quilted with a three leaf design  and small circles. This rail fence  quilt pattern is very forgiving, one reason I like it, also the way one gets secondary patterns with colour placement is another reason.
I don't need another project, but seeing a rail fence has inspired me to start a scrappy version, bust
some of the smaller pieces in my stash. I have a nephew, soon to be a teenager...
It is time I made him a quilt.  I am thinking he has long out grown his 'baby' quilt.
So, I have started. The first 90 patches are done...only 233 to go...

Computer Woes

I grew up on Apple computer, but my last purchase was a Windows product. (To quote my family members, I went over to the dark side.)  Sometimes I get lost in the dark side (grin) but perseverance and far too many hours later, I have the problem solved. I am back in blogger world.

I have also been quilting...this is my latest favourite.

I am so pleased that I  got up the nerve to called the piecer to ask/suggest if I could do this style of quilting. I hoped I didn't put her on the spot as it wasn't what we had discussed....but at the time neither of us had any strong ideas about the quilting.  She seemed as please as I am.
Happy Snowy Friday

Pin Wheels

Pinwheel blocks are usually bias cut blocks, these are not. Pieces are cut from the corner of a square, on enough of an angle to get the tilt in the wheel without being bias. It was easy until the cats sleep on the tray I had all the pieces placed in, in correct sewing order. This happened more then once....and I am sticking to that story. That should explain why this didn't get to be a Christmas pressie, and why some of the colour contrast became rather blended   Yes! that is the story...too many cats. There are 50% less cats now.
Merry Christmas part two to my BB Donna!

Numbers and Colours a Question.

2013!  Some days I am startled,  or is that I startle when that number 2013 rolls across my brain.
I wonder what it is about that number?
So here's an odd question, do any of you 'see' or associate a colour with a number?
Wishing everyone an exemplary 2013!   On to quilting  :)
This quilt is called Rose Cottage, lots of sweet applique, lots of buttons. This was stitched freehand from the front. The piecer knows about the pros & cons of sewing on the buttons before quilting...her choice.

Here it is displayed on a queen size bed

The colours are not very clear in this picture of a crib size quilt.  I find  it a very pleasing green, looks a tad grey here.  A very quick all over large stipple is all this needed.
Wahoo....I am sure enjoying having the long arm in a warm room in stead of the very cool Attic.
Happy Wednesday...good ol hump day...weekends almost here.
