How Many Quilts (Bonnie H,)

I wish I had read Bonnie's  "How Many Quilts" .  many days ago, it would have been a good
thought to share during a discussion I had with a friend.
Made me smile, there are a lot of great reads on blogs, one can drink far too much tea :)

Winter picture

I had a lovely comment from a lady in the southern hemisphere, who is unfamiliar with snow.  She is interested in snow...something she has not experienced. I thought this picture would be interesting. A picture of a lesser day.
This is taken from the car window, early morning on the way to the 'hill'.  For those unfamiliar with snow... the slushy brown stuff on the road is not a lot of fun in a car.  But if you like to ski, board, snow shoe, toboggan or slide snow is good stuff!

Re-used & some new

It was too cold to sew in the attic,  so down came  (hubby did the schlepping) the small sewing machine, ironing board &  a collection of of 'jean pieces'.  These are all family jeans, stored in a box, for some time.  The box was getting unwieldy. Somewhere along the way the box of jeans was turned into a box of 'patches'.
Then, on a darn cold day, (did I mention it was cold)  the kind one spends inside,  I put together the patches.  Well, almost all together. I used very large seams, which will be on the outside and be 'ragged'.
I am not doing this a patch at a time as rag quilts
are usually done.  I will put this on the LA, stitch it down near all the seams and then do a 'doodle' in each square. I plan on using batting scraps.
I am thinking of inviting some 'quilty' folks over, and letting them do some doodling with the BIG machine.
The few ladies that have had an opportunity to run the BIG machine, (it has a name, tell you later)  seem to have more respect for the gal asked what I did while the machine is sewing. (grin)
The backing will be used flannel. The flannel was once used for covering camp one doesn't slide around on them. Our days of camping have changed to days of sailing, and we don't use but two of the mats, if at all. (Life changes when the nest empties!)
Oh and the 'some new' part is the border of this jean rag, which is a piece of pink denim I found
hiding...don't remember how it got here.
Wishing you all a great day, doing something enjoyable.

Close up

Here's a really close view.
I don't have a name for  the quilt,  yet.
I don't always name them. But I am thinking if I make another one, and I probably will, it would be a good way to distinguish between them..or I could number them  :))

So enough about winter, here's something I got done
already this winter.

I took a course with Yvonne Conway.
Yvonne was motivational for me. I started the project on Nov. 21/08 and finished
Dec. 19th/08.  I don't hurry.  This was just so much fun.
Here are pictures of the finished product.

Winter view from our back room.  A few days ago, when we
didn't have much snow.  It feels like these days, a rare sight.

There's always something to do.

It wasn't a great day on the sewing machine, so I switched gears and head for the kitchen.
Here ya  go kiddies, cayenne & cinnamon
sticky buns.

A view from the "Attic"

This is what I see from the window near the
long arm sewing machine.
Yes, it is winter and I live in a 'snow belt'.  We get
what is termed 'the Lake Effect".  Ya gotta love the
stuff to be happy here.

First Contact

Good Morning!
This is a first blog entry for my life as an Attic Quilter, welcome to my little piece of the
I am a quilter. I am a quilter for hire, too.  You will find me on the southern shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, Ontario.
It's winter here now. Well of course, it is January.
