Woodland Creatures Quilt

I found this Woodland Creature Panel. .

I do not remember how long it has been hanging about.  It is now a quilt.

I put extra batting in the creatures bodies and quilted
close to the bodies creating a bit
of a trapunto style out line.

And a bright strippy binding to a pine cone backing.
It turned out quite lovely.

Too Much Fun

Sometimes it is way too much fun creating an infant's quilt.
Arthur arrived just as I was finishing the last few inches of binding on this quilt.  I will embroider his name on it, and wait for an opportunity to visit a new baby :))

Arthur's parents have a SharpPei.  Now they also have Arthur.
What fun.

Best wishes to Arthur N. R. for a terrific future, may all the  creatures in your future   be friendly.

Pretty Quilts

I have been slow with posting the quilts that have been my pleasure and sometimes pain to quilt the last few weeks.  I am glad that quilters turn to bright colours this time of year.  It helps with the lack luster colour that greats me regularly at the window. This happy quilt was done with an all over floral.

Back

Another bright quilt with a solid black back, making for very visible quilting, in a bright raspberry pink thread.

Happy Friday,

I am a lucky girl.

I am lucky to have a caring Mom.  She sends me replacement mukluks every decade or so. The brown ones have been shedding for some time now, truth be told, the furry balls haven't been furry for years as all kittens have had a great time with them.  I am happy with the new ones, no balls to get tangled in, and shorter so they aren't as heavy.  The fur is tall and soft, and they have a  deep tread sole. Wahoo, eh!

I saw a pair of purple running shoes in my size for a bargain...can any girl resist

In the experimental quilting side of things, I used this decade old panel to work with multiple layers of batting.  There were stitch quality issues to start,  I but got that sorted. Switched to a stronger thread.  It was difficult to get smooth curves and curls, however as I got to the bottom, I changed the spacing, which helped. Note, thick batts and close designs are difficult. The end result for this machine trapunto experiment is a fun little quilt with lots of texture.

Closer view of the texture created

Today is another snowy day and I am doing some dyeing on the kitchen stove....I hope it is going to be a yummy plum colour.

Oldest UFO becomes a real quilt.

I finished an old UFO....I searched around to figure out just how old it is and I believe it is from 2003/04.
It is done.  This is a Round Robin quilt. I did the centre, and the three dark slab style
borders.  I found  more of the fabric used in centre, and used it for the backing. I also found some of the pink from the centre and used it, in a two coloured binding.  I love two coloured bindings and, surprisingly simple to make.  BUT the stupid backing fabric bled. Well the fabric isn't stupid, it's the person who assumed the fabric was washed.  You know the village idiot. It's washed now!  I will wash it once, using  colour catchers, and am hoping one more time will eliminate the faint spots left.  If not I may dye the whole thing.
Happy Quilting,

Year is rolling to a Finish

I have been diligently working on a collection of projects started these many years ago.
This little unit was a round robin.  I wasn't particularly keen on the end robins so I removed them down to only one round other then the original round. That was done a long time ago with the thought that I would add to it, but that hasn't happened. Finished it is not, cuz I think it needs a little more bling then just the metallic thread  & cloth. But I may change my mind  :)

This was a workshop, also several years ago,  I fuzzy cut all the cats............a big waste of time as the squares were all sewn and then cut to get the bordered nesting pinwheels.  I quilted it with three large cat silhouettes, and a quote in the middle " The Cat is Back"  and one mouse silhouette...easily mistaken for a rat.
It's done and it is a great little doll blanket, for a sweet little doll I rescued.

Speaking of cats we have found new homes for three of Lulu's kittens

One black male named Ranger will continue to hang here.  One of my children mentioned that anything more then four pets was verging on 'madness'.....whew just made it under the madness wire.
Happy Thursday keep smiling, because as you know the Christmas thing happens any way.
