Fun at the Fair

I placed four items in the Quilted items section of
the local Fall Fair.  Four items took four prizes.  It was a lot of
fun to see the wonderful things at the Fair. I was sadden to see how poor participation was, especially so of  the school age categories.
Possibly because it rained, seriously rained, the fair was well attended.

These are the four items I placed.
First is a (large) Panel, called Dahlia Dazzle, this was micro quilted.

It is mostly freehand, there are several computer generated butterflies and several C-generated small circle medallions. It has a
previously loved cotton sheet as batt.

This one is called Whiskers and is machine appliqued and
Trapuntoed.
This is a small panel suitable for a child, trapuntoed and free motioned quilted.
A Christmas cushion from a pack of
2 1/2" charm squares.
Sew that was our September 2024 Fall Fair.

Ally Cat

This little strippy quilt is being donated to my Guild's Outreach program. Another member of the guild is binding and labeling it.  It's a Northcott Silk fabric called "DressUp".

This post is about Ally a 12 year old cat, who needed a furever home.

This lovely creature was adoped on the 5th of March.  As you can see she is obese.

March 5th.

April 1st.

The scratch was a gift from the fella feline that lives here.
He has also marked a couple of places....on a newly quilted quilt, and her bed.  Things seem to have come to an understanding.  At least I hope that is true.
She was weighed on Feb. 12 at 9.3 kg. Mar. 21, she weighed in at
8.6 kg
 Well done Ally!
She is on a grain free cat food. She has claimed a chair
that gets great sun.

Woodland Creatures Quilt

I found this Woodland Creature Panel. .

I do not remember how long it has been hanging about.  It is now a quilt.

I put extra batting in the creatures bodies and quilted
close to the bodies creating a bit
of a trapunto style out line.

And a bright strippy binding to a pine cone backing.
It turned out quite lovely.

On the July long weekend in 2001, I was home alone and made this Maple Leaf wall hanging.  It has hung in some great places over the years...usually in a window or off a balcony like a flag.

It is more than a bit faded.
And along came fabric markers.
Lots of fun refurbishing the reds.
I may colour the binding....or not.

Wonky Blue Cabin

Wonky Blue Cabin is a strips and string style quilt.
I keep a supply of the red centres, making blocks as the supply of strings avail themselves.😊
It is 94/84".  It is a bright quilt, with a soft beige back.

The previous one like this one reads Red.

Jelly Roll Experiment

This is a jelly roll that I added a couple of solids, on an angle, thought it might make it more interesting. It turned out okay😊
The back is a heavier cotton. It was a donation as is this quilt, a donation quilt.
I used the left over of the back to make the binding.  It is not a picture that does it justice, it is a pleasant quilt.

Cheers,
Gudrun

A Long Time Gone

I started a quilt called "Long Time Gone",  pattern by J.Kingwell in November.
The blocks are small.  These churn dashes finish at 3.5".  Well they should finish at 3.5", if I trim them down to that, there will not be any points. I am going to try again tomorrow.  I will also use solid white for the back ground.  Live and Learn.

Cheers,
Gudrun
